Bangka was originally came from the word "Wangka" which means "Tin", that is why Bangka Island is also called "Tin Island". It was written on a stone by a Royal Expedition of the Sriwijaya Kingdom when they visited the Island during their golden days. Later, the stone was found in the western part of the Island, near Kota Kapur.
